Can You Tell A Story In… 38 Words

I called into Esther Chilton’s website yesterday. Years ago I wrote a short story which was published in the Writing Competition pages of the Writer’s Forum magazine and Esther was the judge. Aside from this cementing her as my favourite writing competition judge, I thought I’d check out her site to see how things were going.

Turns out she’d dropped a little treat of a “Can You Tell A Story In…” challenge on there, citing four words which need to be included as part of the task: Breeches, Tittle-Tattle, Spaceship and Yoga.

I hoisted up my breeches, did a little yoga stretch, and came up with these:

The Daily Tittle-Tattle Classifieds

For Sale: Breeches. Worn once for a yoga session on Earth.

Reason for sale: Only suitable for two human legs.

Contact: Zlorg@spaceship-tours.com

And then this:

“He figured group yoga sessions on a spaceship weren’t ideal. After splitting his breeches right down the middle after executing a perfect Downward Dog pose, the captain knew he’d soon become the target for some intergalactic tittle-tattle.”

Great little writing exercise to dust off the cobwebs!
