A Full English Breakfast

This short story was written in response to Esther Chilton’s “Laughing Along With a Limerick” challenge, citing the word ‘Fry’ is used…

This is what I came up with today:

A fry-up for breakfast for me

A delicious treat it will be…

Now time for some telly

Content is my belly

My arteries though, disagree!

This is perfect. That final twist—”My arteries though, disagree!”—is exactly the kind of self-aware humor that makes a limerick work. The guilty pleasure of a full English breakfast captured in just the right tone of voice.

Hahaha! Nice twist at the end. I saw a news article about how changing salt can make us live longer…lol We have the Big Breakfast as part of Jumpers and Jazz in July. It fills me for the whole day! Great story 😉

      Thank you. 🙂

And a day of jumpers, jazz and a big breakfast sounds like the kind of event I could get onboard with!
